Q: Emma, how has the company’s approach to access control evolved in your 13 years here?
A: "When I first joined, technical advice was often fed through external factories. I recognised the opportunity to bring all of that expertise **in-house**. We transformed Barriers Direct into a forerunner for fully consultative service. Now, our customers don't have to wait for a manufacturer to get back to them; they get expert, project-specific recommendations directly from our team the moment they call."
Q: Why should a customer choose Barriers Direct over a generic online supplier?
A: "Honestly, the biggest difference is that we don’t just ‘sell a barrier’ and leave it there. Most customers come to us thinking they need a specific product, but once we understand their site—the traffic flow, the users, and the security risks—we often find a more efficient solution. Q: You’ve built close ties with FAAC and Bft. How does that benefit the customer?

Our partnership with **Bft** has also been a massive success, making us one of their fastest-growing UK distributors for barriers and bollards. Because we work so closely with them, our team knows these products inside out. We even offer full solutions with our own trained and experienced installers."
Q: What is the team’s primary focus and driving force?
A: "Our mantra will always be exemplary service with no hidden costs. Everything is upfront and transparent. We are currently preparing for the Security Expo to find new ways to fill gaps in our range and offer our customers the latest innovations. We have an amazing, talented team that is always hungry for more knowledge to better serve our clients."
Q: If someone is just starting a project, what is your best advice?
A: "Don't guess. Reach out early. Whether you have a clear plan or just a problem with unauthorised parking, give us a call. We’d rather spend 20 minutes on the phone making sure the logic of your system is perfect than have you buy the wrong equipment."
