Choose from an expanded range of standard sizes or opt for our custom width reduction service. See our "How to Choose the Right Gate Size" guide below.
How to Choose the Right Gate Size:
Step 1: Decide How You Want to Hang the Gates
- Between Existing Structures (Wall-to-Wall): Fit the gates directly between two existing walls or sturdy pillars.
- Wall and New Aluminium Post (100mm or 150mm): Attach a new post to a wall, and hang the gates between the wall and this post.
- Between Two New Posts: Install two new aluminium posts, and hang the gates between them.
Step 2: Measure the Opening Width & Height
- Measure the Narrowest Point: Always measure your physical opening width and height in millimetres at the absolute narrowest point of the brickwork or gap.
- Height Clearance: Ensure your total physical opening height is at least 50mm to 100mm taller than the gate height you select to allow for proper ground clearance and floor-mounted hinge operation.
Step 3: Account for Hinges, Centre Gap and Posts
- Standard Width Clearance: Allow an extra 50mm total width to accommodate the wall hinges and the necessary gap in the centre where the two gates meet.
- If using posts, deduct the specific width of your chosen posts (e.g., 100mm or 150mm) from the overall gap.
- If not using posts, no deduction is needed aside from the 40mm to 50mm hinge and centre clearance.
Step 4: Check Standard Gate Sizes
Check the dropdown menu to see if a standard size fits your opening exactly. If it does, no custom reduction is required.
Step 5: Calculate Custom Gate Size (If Needed)
If none of the standard sizes fit perfectly, calculate a custom size by taking your measured opening width, allowing 40mm to 50mm for the hinges and centre gap, deducting any post widths, and rounding your final calculated width up to the next available standard gate size.
Step 6: Select Gate Size, Customise & Final Checks
- If a standard size fits, simply select 'Standard Size' from the options.
- If you need a bespoke width, select the 'Bespoke Cut' option and enter your exact calculated width (in mm) into the Final Total Gate Width box before adding the item to your basket.

Important Notification on Modifications, Returns & Delivery:
Please double-check your measurements carefully before completing your order. Modified bespoke sizes and custom colour orders are strictly non-returnable. Please note: Any orders submitted with a custom width entered in the text box, but purchased at the 'Standard Size' price, will be automatically placed on hold until the bespoke cutting fee is settled.
Estimated Lead Times:
- Standard Gate Orders: 2 to 3 weeks.
- Gates with Accessories: If you select optional accessories from the dropdown menu, such as the Locking Mechanism or Locinox Lockable Drop Bolt, please allow an additional 3 to 5 working days on top of the standard lead time to accommodate these items. Please note: During the garden summer peak season, this timeframe can be slightly longer.
- Custom Fabrication (4 to 5 weeks): Bespoke width reductions and/or the addition of Underground Automation Removal Feet require structural modifications. Selecting either or both of these options results in a total estimated lead time of 4 to 5 weeks. (These modifications are completed concurrently at the factory, meaning ordering both will not extend your wait beyond this 4 to 5-week window).
Please note that deliveries to Scotland may take longer.
