Flow Plates, Speed Ramps & Rising Kerbs

Surface mounted flow plate

The Surface Mounted Flow Plate (Patent No's 22385658, 22705338) have been designed to offer the advantages over the standard design. The main features being:

1. Eliminates the problem of piercing roadway surfaces to an approximate of 12"
2. To offer their use on slope entrances or exits
3. One important advantage they offer multi-storey car parks is that they can now be installed on upper levels, as risk of the damp membranes is substantially reduced.

HGV Surface mounted flow plate

The SB.14 H.G.V. Surface Mounted Flow Plate (Patent no's 2233856B, 22705338) has now been designed after popular demand and offers many advantages over the sunken type. This product is strong enough to withstand the heaviest goods vehicle, or with the flap reduced to 103mm, will provide the strength and flexibility to allow all types of vehicles to travel over them. The main features being:

1. Eliminates the problem of piercing roadway surfaces to an approximate of 12"
2. To offer their use on slope entrances or exits
3. One important advantage they offer multi-storey car parks is that they can now be installed on upper levels, as risk of the damp membranes is substantially reduced.

Bollard Tech Flow Plates

Each unit is manufactured in 'durbar' steel, finished in yellow as standard and manufactured to the British quality standard ISO 9002.

Single straight line formation if budgets are restricted.

The countersunk version is suitable for use for HGV traffic flows.

Recommendations:

• The Product should be used in conjunction with 'no entry signs' and also 'speed ramps'.
• On-coming traffic should meet the plates at no more than a 15-degree angle.
• Adequate illumination should be provided.

Sunken flow plate

SB.6 One-way Traffic Control Plates. Standard one-way traffic control plates - SB.6 counter balance action, available in 12" (305mm) and 24" (610mm) width sizes. For sinking into roadways to a depth of approximately 12" (305mm). Drainage is required, also speed must be reduced to 5mph. To be used in conjunction with our speed ramps.

Traffic Flow Control Plates

As the name implies this is to control traffic and encourage one way flow. The robust all steel construction is simple in operation as it is entirely vehicle activated and working on a simple pivot which is self returning.

• Zinc Phosphate Pre-Treated followed by a final coat of Yellow Gloss.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Flow Plates Collapsible plates provide an effective barrier when complying with the following:-

1. Raise the road surface to restrict approach speed of cars (see our speed ramp).
2. Exclude heavy vehicles from operating the plates.
3. Avoid sitting plates on a convex slope.
4. Avoid layouts encouraging cars to approach plates more than 15 degrees out of line.
5. Provide good general illumination.

MAXIMUM LOAD : 40 Tonnes.

Use of flow plates without the installation of speed ramps will result in all guarantees and indemnities becoming void.

Speed Reduction Cushions

Strong, Stable and Durable.

Suitable for speed reduction within 5 and 20 mph zones. For use on straight roads and at intersections.

Features a steeper ramp inclination than the TRAFFIC-LINE SRB hump.

Recommended where speed reduction at specific points is required e.g. near kindergartens, schools, nursing homes etc.

TRAFFIC-LINE SRA cushions are particularly suitable for transition from 30 mph to 20 mph zones as their presence makes drivers aware of the need to reduce speed.

The relatively low height of the TRAFFIC-LINE SRA cushions (6.5cm) enables them to be negotiated by all types of vehicles.

Note: As TRAFFIC-LINE SRA cushions are about 180cm wide, with a plateau section width of 120cm, herefore buses and coaches can drive over them without causing discomfort to passengers. The wheels of buses actually only make contact with the lower edges of the cushion, which does not affect the driving dynamics of the vehicle.

We do not recommend installing the cushions in a transverse direction, as they do not feature safety reflective strips on the side edges. It is however possible to provide on-site THERMO-line thermoplastic road markings in front of the TRAFFIC-LINE SRA cushion.

TRAFFIC-LINE SRA speed reduction cushions are divided style plateau cushions and so therefore will not affect existing road drainage.

Speed Ramp

Speed Ramp is sold in pairs: 1 x Black, 1 x Yellow section c/w reflectors. Centre sections 0.50 metres each, end caps 0.25 metres each, manufactured from recycled P.V.C.

• Heavy duty recycled PVC segments for early, visual warning.
• Two height levels to suit all requirements: 5.0cm and 7.5cm.
• Fixing methods include bolt down on 5.0cm and 7.5cm or alternative fixing methods.
• 5.0cm and 7.5cm are provided with centre run cable tunnel for temporary traffic lights, fairgrounds, water supplies etc.

TOPSTOP

TOPSTOP is a System of proven Speed Reduction Ramps, which encourage drivers not to exceed a certain speed.

There is a choice of two different systems: TOPSTOP 5 and TOPSTOP 10 for pre-determined traffic speeds of 5 mph and 10 mph respectively.

Speed reduction ramps are reliable and effective. TOPSTOP can regulate traffic speed near hazardous areas such as bends, exit-ways, and loading bays; weigh bridges, junctions, pedestrian crossings and schools, etc. or car park at hospitals, pubs, hotels, golf courses or indeed any other parking area. On roads where speeding regularly occurs speed reduction ramps should be located at regular intervals.

Quite apart from the instant effect speed reduction humps offer in reducing driving speed, their conspicuous hazard warning colours and reflectors will remind drivers to reduce speed by night as well as by day.

N.B. Appropriate warning signs indicating the presence of speed reduction ramps should be used with this product.

Simple installation:

1. The width of the carriageway and the number of blocks required should first be ascertained.

2. The directional tubular rods (optional extra) should be adjusted for size accordingly and laid down in place. If required, adjustments should be made to take into account camber of the road surface.

3. The blocks can then be laid down end-to-end on the tubular rods and drilled through to the road surface.

4. Fit the bolts into the sections, insert into the drill holes and secure tightly.

Speed Restrictor Ramps

These modular units can be arranged and installed to effect and reduce the speed of on-coming traffic on most sites or locations. Comprising of modular segments in either 50 mm or 70 mm high they are coloured in either high visibility yellow or black, which simply slot together on site. Typically alternate colours are laid to aid visibility.

Units can be fixed in the ‘short term’ by use of an adhesive and later relocated and bolted down for permanent fixing. It is recommended that ‘speed warning signs’, (shown left), are also used in conjunction with any speed ramp installation to warn approaching traffic of their presence.

Specification

• 500 mm long units manufactured in ‘heavy duty’ rubber supplied in either yellow or black.
• Available in 50 mm high to reduce site traffic to 10 MPH.
• Or in 70 mm high to reduce on-coming traffic speeds to 5 MPH.
• End cap modules are 250 mm long and are supplied in pairs to suit either height system.

Fixing

• It’s recommended that sections are fixed using anchor bolts to a level concrete surface.
• Each 500 mm long central segment requires 4 no. anchor bolts.
• Each end cap requires 2. no anchor bolts.
• Bolts should be a minimum of 150 mm long, (M12 type).

Fixing adhesive can be used one litre of adhesive is required for each meter of ramp and is recommended as temporary fixing only.

Recommendations

• Adequate illumination at night required.
• Clear warning signage.

Automatic Rising Kerbs

The PF8000 Automatic Rising Kerb is tough, reliable and un-compromising, providing the perfect solution for prevention of unwanted vehicle access in both manned and unmanned vehicle parking areas. The PF8000 also provides an excellent deterrent against the most determined intruder.

Available in two types and four sizes the rising kerb is capable of withstanding axle weights of 3 tonnes (Type A 2 meters& 2.5 meters) and 12 tonnes (Type B- 3 meters and 3.9 meters).

The PF8000 features an advance hydraulic power pack to raise and lower the unit smoothly. A state of the art programmable logic controller co-ordinates the hydraulics. The PF8000 has a variety of access control options including proximity card, radio control, token operator, keypad and intercom, and works in conjunction with the induction loop or photocell safety and close facilities, ensures the kerb opens and closes smoothly every time
